We are incorporating this page to educate people to the reason that
we exist. Why we need funding to help us and that there are people
in this world that have no conscience and are absolutely unfeeling.
These animals have feelings and need compassion and care. We
can only continue to help them with your help. We will update the
condition and status of these animals daily when possible.
Our first case is a Kitten that was left in a neighbors driveway during a heat wave
when the temperatures were in the 90's. This kitten we named "Ruby"was diagnosed
with a respiratory infection, conjunctivitis, and was starving. She was so under weight
the Vet could not draw blood. You can click on the pictures for larger view. Ruby had
lice, worms and ear mites. Ruby spent  two weeks in our unfinished shelter before
being placed in foster care.
Ruby is doing much better now and is in foster care. Below are some pictures taken in
her foster home.

This next case will enrage most.
Brigid was left in 90+ degree temperatures for four days by a family before making a call
for help on the fourth day  "because they couldn't afford to take the cat to the vet"
When we went to retrieve the cat it was covered with flies and was being eaten alive by
fleas. She was so dehydrated her skin was like a raisin. We brought her to the Old Mystic
Animal Clinic, where she spent several days on intravenous fluids. The flies had laid
eggs near her anal area and the maggots had entered into her intestinal tract. She was
nothing but a sack of bones she was so emaciated. The veterinarian believes she is
having fatty liver problems due to starvation.
We have named her "Brigid" after the Celtic goddess of healing. She is currently  in our
garage, which has been converted into a make shift hospital room. She is being assisted
with eating and given subcutaneous  fluids.

Still not eating on her own or drinking. Brigid is making some progress by sometimes
using her litter box. She has very little energy and has trouble standing.

After a two week battle Brigid died over night. Animal control officers in Groton  took no
action against the people that left this animal with no shelter in the 90+ degree heat for 3
and a half days.
From time to time when abuse cases or injured animals enter our facility
we will put them on this page and you can keep track of their progress.
This page will be updated frequently when these animals arrive in our
care.
